Windows Me build 2499 is the official Beta 3 release of Windows Me, released on 11 April 2000^[1], which is available in the English, German, Simplified Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese and Korean languages. Traditional Chinese, Arabic and Thai versions are believed to have existed as part of MSDN release of July 2000, as per release notes, but are yet to be available online.

   About a week ago GLoW released the Release Canidate Version of
   Windows Millennuin Beta 3.  This was not the OFFICIAL build and
   should never have been released.  So here we bring you the OFFICIAL
   Beta 3 version of WinME.  This is the next consumer version of Microsofts
   OS's.  Not only does this OS have the same look and feel of Win2k
   but to this date it is the best Gamers OS built.          




     INSTALL NOTES:  If you install this from an upgrade point of view you 
     will be asked for a Beta ID.  enter any 6 digit number and you can 
     bypass this  you may also be asked for it once more after the first 
     or second reboot do the same thing as before.  If you install this 
     build from Dos there should be no asking of Beta ID's but incase it 
     does just do the same as above.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

Windows Movie Maker cannot be reinstalled after being uninstalled due to setup asking files for the older Windows Media Pad, such as mediapad.exe or mediapad.chm, which already have been renamed.

Neptune reference[edit | edit source]

A file named ICMUI.DLL, with the version number 5.50.5117.1 was found in this Windows Me build, but it is unknown whether this Neptune build was ever compiled.

Some speculate this would've been a Milestone 2 build. It would've been compiled someday after 11 December 1999, meaning it would be one of the last Neptune builds before the Neptune project was canceled in January 2000.
