Windows Me build 2452 is the official "Beta 2 Refresh" build of Windows Me, released to testers on 21 January 2000[1].
Changes[edit | edit source]
- This is the first build to have a reference to the final name "Windows Millennium Edition" in the first page of setup billboards.
- Most of the Control Panel applets are updated.
- This build's autorun again uses the background as seen in the one from Windows 95. Additionally, Millennium is written all-capitalized and in a serif font.
- This build changes the design of the blue screen of death.
Bugs[edit | edit source]
S3 drivers[edit | edit source]
Upon using S3 video adapters, Windows will complain that its own drivers will not work properly, thus the display will be stuck at 640×480 resolution and 16 colors mode. This error will also appear upon every boot and other drivers cannot be installed correctly, meaning that S3 video adapters are not recommended for this build. S3 ViRGE and later Trio graphics adapters are not affected from this bug.
Neptune reference[edit | edit source]
A total of eight files with the version number 5.50.5116.1 were found in this Millennium build, but it is unknown whether this Neptune build was ever compiled.
Some speculate this would've been a Milestone 2 build.
