Windows Embedded Compact 7 build 1347 is the official Community Technology Preview build of Windows Embedded Compact 7, which was released to beta testers on Microsoft Connect on 1 June 2010.

Windows Embedded Compact 7 Public Community Technical Preview Release Notes June 2010 This document contains important information about the Public Community Technical Preview release of Windows Embedded Compact 7. The Compact 7 release offers several new features and improvements, including kernel improvements, NDIS 6.1, and Platform Builder integrated with Visual Studio 2008. Important This release includes software that is beta quality and is still in development. Some of the code in this release might not be fully tested and might not reflect the functionality of the final retail product. Platform Builder 7.0 Platform Builder is now installed with the OS. For more information, see “Platform Builder 2008_Release_Notes.htm” in the Platform_Builder folder. Platform Builder now runs on Windows 7. Windows Embedded Compact 7 Installation Instructions We recommend that you set aside a dedicated development computer to install this release. Do not use this release in a production environment. Hardware Requirements Your computer must meet the following hardware requirements: - Approximately 55 GB of free hard disk space - Minimum: 1.6 GHz CPU, 384 MB RAM, 1024x768 display, 5400 RPM hard disk - Recommended: 2.2 GHz or higher CPU, 1024 MB or more RAM, 1280x1024 display, 7200 RPM or higher hard disk - On Windows Vista: 2.4 GHz CPU, 768 MB RAM Operating Systems You can install this release on the following operating systems: - Windows XP Service Pack 2 - Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 - Windows Server 2003 R2 - Windows Vista - Windows Server 2008 Software Requirements Your computer must have the following software installed: - Visual Studio 2008 SP1 (for all components) - Expression Blend 3 (for Windows Embedded Silverlight Tools) - .NET Framework 3.5 Your computer must not have the following software installed: - Previous Windows CE, Windows Embedded CE, or Windows Embedded Compact components Trial versions of Visual Studio 2008 are available from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=193526.
