Windows 8 build 8018 (fbl_pdc_4) is a build of Windows 8. Several screenshots of it were shared on the BetaWiki Discord server on 22 October 2024, and was later shared online on 28 October 2024 as updates.

This build is specific in that it was compiled as a private build, with binary files having the VS_FF_PRIVATEBUILD flag set in their version information and the builder user name being present in the build tag.

Additionally, the branch suggests that this build was compiled for the planned PDC 2011 conference (which was later rebranded to Microsoft Build), which means that Microsoft had not rebranded the PDC conference as of compilation.

Installation[edit | edit source]

The KB381239 and KB999888 updates cannot be installed via the GUI due to a certificate error (0x800b0109). To install them, the user should boot into the WinPE or recovery environment, open a command prompt and use the following commands in order to install the updates:

dism /image:D:\ /add-package /packagepath:Windows6.2-KB381239-v2-x64-PDC4.msu /ScratchDir:D:\Temp
dism /image:D:\ /add-package /packagepath:Windows6.2-KB999888-x64-PDC4.msu /ScratchDir:D:\Temp

where D:\ is the drive where the OS is installed (change it if it's not), the user is in the same directory as the updates and the D:\Temp folder exists (it should be created if it does not).
