Changes[edit | edit source]

  • Windows Media Player was updated to version 6.4.06.0719.
  • This build replaces the points on the top of the screen during boot, the progress bar and the percent with border during resuming hibernation screen with a text-mode progress bar.
  • It is the first known build to fix CMPXCHG8b kernel tests issue first appeared in Windows NT 4.0 build 1227 which will let system crash (and triple fault machine in many machines) when processor maximum CPUID leaf higher than 3.
  • New bugcheck codes have been added.[1] Additionally, bugcheck 0xDD (BUGCODE_PSS_MESSAGE_A5) have been updated to mention the F7 option during setup that silently uses the Standard PC HAL.
    • A worker thread is impersonating another process. The work item forgot to disable impersonation before it returned. (0xDF, later renamed IMPERSONATING_WORKER_THREAD)
    • The ACPI BIOS has informed the system that a fatal error has occurred. Please contact your system vendor for technical support. (0xE0, later renamed ACPI_BIOS_FATAL_ERROR)

Bug[edit | edit source]

COM+ installation during setup will fail, giving the message:

Sub-component COM+ raised an exception while processin the OC_COMPLETE_INSTALLATION setup message.
csetuputil.cpp (line 3419)
Error Code= 0x8007045a

A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed.
Failed to load the library C:\WINNT\System32\colbact.dll'.

Setup will then continue as normal. However, when setup is about to restart, it will complain that COM+'s installation had failed. This can safely be ignored however as after setup restarts, Windows continues to boot normally.
