Windows 2000 build 1848 is a beta 2 build of Windows 2000. It is the earliest available 'Server' build of the Beta 2 branch.
Changes[edit | edit source]
- The toolbar icons have been shrunken in size, just like in the RTM build.
- There is a new shortcut to the "Administrative Tools" in the Control Panel.
- This build changes the sounds (except for startup and shutdown) to the sounds heard in Windows 98.
- Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator is now installed by default, along with it a new Control Panel applet called "MS DTC".
- The "UPS" Control Panel applet has been removed.

Inconsistent branding[edit | edit source]
- During setup, the boot screen background is blue in this build and the SKU says Workstation.
- The safe to shutdown screen is also branded as Workstation.
