New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Shell[edit | edit source]

  • The ability to undock Copilot by clicking the new icon at the top right in the header has been implemented.
  • Slight refinements have been made to the scrollable view of Quick Settings, which was initially implemented in build 25967.

Task Manager[edit | edit source]

Mica material has been implemented into the Settings page.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

  • The Microsoft Tips app is deprecated and will be removed after upgrading to this build.
  • The ReFS file system has been reverted to version 3.10.

Bugfixes[edit | edit source]

  • Fixed an issue that was causing the Restart button to be missing in the Windows Update in the Settings app, or for that settings page to not load at all in build 26002.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the system to be stuck at the boot screen when booting into Safe mode.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing an increase in bugchecks in builds 25997 and 26002.
  • Fixed a high hitting taskhostw.exe crash in build 26002.
  • Addressed an issue where the background could be seen jumping when switching between desktops.
  • Fixed an issue which was causing File Explorer to revert to the previous design and opening the context menu to crash explorer.exe in certain cases.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing the Settings app to crash with the 0xc000027b exception code in Windows.UI.Xaml.dll when navigating to System > Storage > System and Reserved.

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

Shell[edit | edit source]

  • Text on highlighted items in Microsoft Management Console and some of its snap-ins may have a yellow color.
  • Keyboard shortcuts on desktop may be broken in certain cases.
  • Opening the print queue may show a message saying it can't find the app.

Settings[edit | edit source]

The Settings app may crash upon launch in certain cases. To work around this issue, complete the following steps:[1]

  1. Download PSTools and then extract PsExec64.exe.
  2. Open an elevated Command Prompt window, navigate to where PsExec64.exe was located and execute: PsExec64.exe /s powershell.exe. After that, a PowerShell window should open.
  3. In the PowerShell window, execute the following command:
Add-AppxPackage -RegisterByFamilyName -MainPackage Windows.ImmersiveControlPanel_cw5n1h2txyewy -ForceApplicationShutdown

Widgets[edit | edit source]

  • Users may experience a loading delay when the Microsoft Start feed is re-enabled.
  • Announcements from the Microsoft Start feed may still be shown on the taskbar after the feed is hidden.
  • Keyboard navigation from the settings subpage back to the top-level settings page may be broken.
  • Incorrect spacing and fonts may exist in some settings pages.

Preinstallation environment[edit | edit source]

Moving and clicking the mouse for the first time may cause overlapping rectangle voids in WinPE and WinRE. To bypass this issue, appropriate 3D graphics drivers are required to be applied into the image.

Updates[edit | edit source]

  • 26010.1010.rs_prerelease_flt.231201-1352 (KB5034015).
