Windows 11 build 25352 is an Insider Preview build of Zinc, the 23H2 development semester of Windows as a service released to Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel on 28 April 2023. It is the first available build from the zn_release
branch, where Zn is the chemical symbol for Zinc.
New features and changes[edit | edit source]
Features[edit | edit source]
The following features and changes have been disabled:
- File Explorer based on Windows App SDK
- The Gallery page in File Explorer
- The redesigned Details pane in File Explorer
- The ability to display seconds in the system clock on the taskbar
- The ability to hide the date and time in the system tray on the taskbar, along with changes to the notification badges
- The ability to suggest and remember customized Snap Assist layouts for specific groups of applications
- The ability to input emoji characters based on the Unicode Emoji 15.0 standard via the emoji picker
- The Spotlight UI
- The redesigned Windows Firewall Security Alert dialog
Widgets[edit | edit source]
The following changes have been implemented to the widgets picker (toggleable via the 43040593
velocity ID):
- Redesigned UI with a navigation pane and a visual preview of the selected widget.
- The ability to jump directly to the widget picker from the provider app or service.
- A new "Find more widgets" link to the widgets collection page at Microsoft Store.
Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]
The "Insider Preview" reference in the system has been removed, except for the watermark.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
File Explorer[edit | edit source]
- The access keys in the XAML context menu may appear inconsistently if no button is pressed. Pressing a button will cause them to reappear.
- Clicking on the Share command may bring up the Windows share sheet (non-OneDrive) when the file recommendations feature is enabled.
Settings[edit | edit source]
Certain languages shown on the Language & Region page may indicate speech recognition support but don't yet have support for live captions.

Captioning performance may be degraded in non-English languages and missing out-of-language filtering in non-English (United States) languages.
Safe mode[edit | edit source]
- Quick Settings and date/time clock on the taskbar may be missing due to the
Capability Access Manager Service
service not running. - Clicking Bluetooth & devices and Personalization pages may crash the Settings app due to an overrun of a stack-based buffer
