Windows 11 build 23580 is an Insider Preview build of Nickel, the 22H2 development semester of Windows as a service. It was released to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel on 1 November 2023.
New features and changes[edit | edit source]
Copilot[edit | edit source]
Starting from this build, local users can access Copilot for a limited number of queries before needing to sign in.
Voice access[edit | edit source]
The custom commands feature has been implemented. This feature is disabled by default, but can be activated by enabling the 40501685 velocity staging key.
Input[edit | edit source]
Support for the COLRv1 font format, previously available in build 23506, has been disabled by default due to some bugs.
Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]
The nearby share transfer speed for users on same network has been significantly improved.
Bugfixes[edit | edit source]
File Explorer[edit | edit source]
- Fixed an issue where using mouse back and forward buttons didn't react when hovering over the Recommended Files section of the Home page.
- Fixed an issue where the Gallery page would stop displaying correctly if the Group By option is applied to all folders.
Shell[edit | edit source]
- Fixed an issue that made the desktop tooltips in Task View hard to read in contrast themes.
- Fixed an issue that was causing taskbar icons to disappear after switching desktops.
- Fixed an issue where if the taskbar with the search box was close to being full of icons, clicking the search box would open Search and then it would immediately close.
- Fixed an issue which was resulting in Windows Spotlight wallpapers not showing correctly in the desktop thumbnail in Task View.

Shell[edit | edit source]
The old Chat button (deprecated since build 23481) may incorrectly show up on the taskbar after doing a clean install or upgrading to this build.
Copilot[edit | edit source]
When first launching or after refreshing Copilot while using Voice access, users may need to use "Show grid" commands to click in the "Ask me anything" box for the first time.
Safe mode[edit | edit source]
- Quick Settings and date/time clock on the taskbar may be missing due to the
Capability Access Manager Serviceservice not running. - Clicking Bluetooth & devices and Personalization pages may crash the Settings app due to an overrun of a stack-based buffer
