Windows 11 build 22454 is the second Insider Preview build of Windows 11 2022 Update. It was released to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel on 9 September 2021.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Shell[edit | edit source]

  • The Recycle Bin now uses the modern context menu.
  • The option to pin a network share to Quick access in File Explorer can now be accessed without having to click "Show more options".
  • The updated Korean IME, first introduced in Windows 10 build 18941, has been reintroduced for the fourth time based on Windows Insider feedback. The updated Korean IME also has an updated UI for the Windows 11 design principles.
  • The ability to hold ⇧ Shift while clicking on a taskbar icon to launch a new instance of an app has been re-implemented.
  • The Chat taskbar icon animation has been updated.

Bugfixes[edit | edit source]

  • Windows Terminal is now listed again in the ⊞ Win+X menu.
  • Narrator now announces the Start launch more reliably.
  • Preview thumbnails for desktops now render correctly for certain aspect ratios.
  • Devices with WDAG enabled should no longer continuously bugcheck.

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

Shell[edit | edit source]

  • The Widgets board may appear empty. This can be fixed by logging out and back in.
  • Widgets may be displayed in the wrong size on external monitors.
  • The option to open System may be missing from the ⊞ Win+X menu.

Taskbar[edit | edit source]

  • The taskbar will sometimes flicker when switching input methods.
  • When the taskbar alignment is set to center, icons in the taskbar will be shifted to the right of their intended location.

Search[edit | edit source]

  • After clicking the Search icon on the Taskbar, the Search panel may not open. This can be fixed by restarting Explorer and opening the search panel again.
  • The search panel may appear as black and not display any content below the search box.
  • Text may be unable to be inputted when using Search from Start or the taskbar. This can be fixed by pressing ⊞ Win+R to open the Run dialog box and then closing it.

Bugcheck[edit | edit source]

Some Surface Pro X devices with this build may bugcheck with a WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR.
