New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Narrator improvements[edit | edit source]

  • This build includes reliability improvements to Narrator, including:
  • Improvements to Scan Mode regarding reading, navigating and selecting text.
  • Improvements to the link in the Narrator settings to relaunch QuickStart.
  • The aforementioned tutorial also now takes focus reliably.
  • Changed the keystroke to provide feedback to pressing Alt+F while in Narrator.
  • When Narrator's view is changed to read characters, words, lines or paragraphs, the Read Current Item command now reads the selected item more reliably.
  • The keystroke to move to the beginning of text has been changed to Narrator+B, while the keystroke to move to the end of text was changed to Narrator+E.
  • Improved usage of Braille commanding when using the Narrator key from the braille display.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

  • There's a chance that the system can freeze when running the Windows Subsystem for Linux.
  • You may see unexpected light colors on the dark theme, as well as dark on dark text when said theme is enabled.
  • The acrylic background on the taskbar flyouts (network, volume, etc) is missing.
  • When the "Make text bigger" option in the Ease of Access Settings page is used, text clipping issues may be encountered, and sometimes the text may not resize everywhere.
  • When Microsoft Edge is set up as the kiosk app, and you configured the start or new tab page from Settings, the browser may not be launched with the correct URL.
  • Sometimes the notification count icon can overlap with the extension icon on the Microsoft Edge toolbar when an extension has unread notifications.
  • If you're using Windows 10 in S Mode, when launching Office from the Microsoft Store, it may fail with an error message saying that a .dll file “is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again.” Sometimes uninstalling and reinstalling Office from the Store can fix the problem.
  • When using Narrator's scan mode, it may stop multiple times on a single control (an example is if there's an image present that doubles as a link).
  • When using Narrator's scan mode, ⇧ Shift with selection commands in Microsoft Edge, the text does not get selected correctly.
  • There's a chance of the Start menu causing performance and reliability issues in this build.
