Windows 10 build 17643 is the seventh Insider Preview build of Windows 10 October 2018 Update. This build was released to Windows Insiders that were opted into Skip Ahead on 12 April 2018.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

  • The Sets title bar is now used in more Win32 apps, such as Windows Fax and Scan and Windows Media Player. Win32 apps that use custom title bars such as Paint and WordPad do not have Sets.
  • You can drag Microsoft Edge tabs within a set, as well as drop it into another Sets window.
  • Data Usage settings was updated to let the user know how much data they're using during roaming. It only appears when roaming data is enabled.
  • A new option was introduced in Magnifier to keep the mouse centered on the screen.
  • Added two new increments to the zoom level, these are 5% and 10%.
  • Added a new Magnifier node in Feedback Hub.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

  • If you click on links to the Microsoft Store in the Settings app, links in the tips section and the link to Windows Defender, the Settings app will crash.
  • You may get to see the desktop before you get to the lock screen upon resuming from stand-by.
  • The Movies & TV app can crash if the user denies access to their video library and then navigates to the Personal tab.
  • Tiling and cascading windows do not work for inactive tabs.
  • Opening an Office document while the same app has an existing document open may cause an unintended switch to the last active document. It can also happen if you close a sheet in Excel while other sheets are open.
  • Locally stored files and cloud files that are on non-Microsoft cloud services are not automatically restored.
  • The top of some Win32 desktop apps may appear slightly underneath the tab bar when they're opened maximized. To fix this issue, restore and re-maximize the affected window.
  • Sometimes closing one tab can minimize the entire set.
  • The File Explorer ribbon does not stay pinned if restarted.
  • Narrator can read extra text when Alt+Tab ↹ is invoked.
  • Using the arrow keys and the PgUp ↑/PgDn ↓ keys does not work to scroll pages in Microsoft Edge.
