Windows 10 build 14291 (rs1_release) is the ninth Insider Preview build of Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which was released to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring on 17 March 2016.

Maps[edit | edit source]

The Maps app have been updated which includes new features such as one-tap access to search and directions, the ability to view multiple searches and directions at the same time, and on the same map as they're layered on top of each other, and the user can use tabs or the map to switch between them. It is also now possible to minimize the search results, directions and the location info, as well as labels for the search results on the map. Cortana can also give the user directions if enabled. The logic for nearby searches was improved. The ability to search for the user's favorite city in the 3D cities list was added. The user can also access their favorites offline and add notes to them. The turn-by-turn design was updated.

Insider Hub[edit | edit source]

The Insider Hub and Windows Feedback apps were combined into Feedback Hub.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

  • It is now possible to choose a one-handed kana touch keyboard for Japanese text typing.
  • The Japanese lined-mode Text Input Canvas has been updated.

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

  • Some Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 4, and Surface Book devices can experience a hang or freeze. This results in all input from the keyboard, trackpad and the touch screen to not register.
  • The system may freeze when plugging in an Xbox One or Xbox 360 or any other gamepad in this build.
  • When using Hyper-V and have a Virtual Switch configured for the network adapter, the user may see a red X on the network icon.
  • Due to an operating system reliability issue, some apps can randomly crash.
