Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake) is the fourth release of Ubuntu, and the first Long Term Support release (LTS), launching on 1 June 2006. Unlike interim releases, which were supported for only a few months after the next, support periods on an LTS release were increased to three years for desktop packages, and five years for server packages.

Dapper is the only Ubuntu release to have ever been delayed, as Canonical previously never maintained more than two Ubuntu releases at a time. A number of projects were in the works but not ready for April, such as the in-house Humanlooks theme for GNOME, the Ubiquity graphical installer for the live CD, the Usplash boot screen, and a new network manager utility for GNOME. As such, alphas and early beta versions of Dapper will usually be numbered 6.04.
