Towns OS is an operating system made by Fujitsu in 1989 for their line of FM Towns computers. This operating system is based on MS-DOS (with Phar Lap 386|DOS-Extender) with a very limited GUI. Towns OS is stored into a CD where users can boot straight from the CD; booting from CD on the FM Towns is performed by using a copy of MS-DOS 3 in ROM. It can also be installed to a hard disk.

An official English translation of Towns OS version 1.1L20 exists, which was originally provided to British game developers Psygnosis to allow them "to get familiarised with the new environment with minimal language obstacles"; however of the floppies containing the English binaries, disk 2 could not be dumped successfully.
