Talk:Windows 10 build 17000

Is this build actually notable?[edit source]

It seems like this build is a not notable fake due to command prompt versions. I am suspicious that this build is notable. What do you think about this topic? XPSrv (talk) 16:24, 27 February 2022 (UTC)

This build is not fake, I'm not sure what causes it but the CMD version is correct due to a bug. Xeno (talk) 16:25, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
I don't know. But normally CMD version should not be 10.0.0616.1000, it should be 10.0.17000.1000. Maybe it's caused by corrupted ntoskrnl.exe? XPSrv (talk) 16:28, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
At this point various components assumed a 12-bit build number, including cmd.exe. 17000 truncated to 12 bits == 616, which gets padded to 4 digits (this style of build number can be seen in IE4/IE5 builds). 89.243.142.119 17:05, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
Whoops, miscalculated, actually a 14-bit build number, not 12-bit. 89.243.142.119 18:15, 27 February 2022 (UTC)
