OpenSolaris
OpenSolaris is a open-source operating system, made by Sun Microsystems, based on Solaris, which in itself is based on Unix System V Release 4, which uses the GNOME desktop environment. After the acquisition of Sun Microsystems by Oracle in January 2010, all internal development was halted to focus on Solaris.
Discontinuation[edit | edit source]
Both OpenSolaris 2010.03 and 2010.05 were cancelled because an internal memo leaked in August 2010 indicated Oracle will no longer release OpenSolaris distributions.[1]
