Microsoft OS/2 1.0 is a version of OS/2 1.0 developed by Microsoft. Having only a command-line interface, it was designed to run on a 286 processor or later.
Compared to the IBM release, this build utilizes a different setup interface (which no longer features a processor reset to switch from protected to real mode), includes a graphical boot screen resemblant to that of Windows 1.0 and Windows 2.x, and removes most of the IBM system drivers and applications. Some files were renamed to remove IBM references and most drivers that are included are provided via OEMs.
Bugs[edit | edit source]
Installing on newer processors[edit | edit source]
This version has a bug in the keyboard driver that causes setup to crash when loading with TRAP 0000 due to a division by zero when installing on any processor faster than a 486 processor. To install on a faster processor, KBD01.SYS
must be patched to remove the sequence that causes the division by zero.[1]
