Mac System Software 6.0.4 is a version of Mac System Software 6.x which was released in 20 September 1989. It introduces a new Installer application window which was used to insert disks while installing. This is the first version of macOS to support Macintosh Portable and Macintosh IIci.

  • The copyright date in the about box was updated from 1983-88 to 1983-89.
  • A new desk accessory called Battery and a new Control Panel section called Portable were added.
  • Support for HyperCard was added.
