Mac OS X Server 1.0.1 is a build of Mac OS X Server 1.x. It is an update for Mac OS X Server 1.0 which was released as a free update on 15 April 1999. This build updates the Rhapsody kernel number to 5.4 and fixes some performance issues.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Not much is known about the exact features and changes that were introduced in this update, as an article which displayed all of this build's changes was never published, unlike with the following update. If this update's .pkg file is extracted, it can be seen that only three files are updated, with these including mach_kernel, the DEC21x4Ethernet config and the 0200_Tune file. However, the changes mentioned on Apple's website at the time include improved NetBoot performance and the introduction of the QuickTime Streaming Server.

Installation[edit | edit source]

The installation process of this update is relatively simple. The .tar files containing the .pkg file itself can be extracted using Workspace Manager or with any extraction program externally. The .pkg itself then should be opened using the Installer app. If prompted to overwrite files, allow the installer to do so.
