Lisa Office System is an operating system that was developed in the early 1980's, which is intended for the Apple Lisa computer. It has two user modes; Lisa Office System, which features icons, windows, menus, and a mouse for user interaction, whereas Workshop is almost entirely text-based. Lisa Office System faced several challenges, including its high price, as the Apple Lisa was initially priced at $9,995 in 1983 ($31,141.65 in 2024), which was prohibitively high for most consumers and businesses. Furthermore, the Lisa faced competition from other computers, including the IBM PC, which offered the similar capabilities at lower prices. Lisa Office System was later replaced with Macintosh System Software in 1984.
