iOS 18.2 build 22C5131e is the official Beta 3 and Public Beta 2 release of iOS 18.2, which was released to Apple developers on 11 November 2024, then to public beta testers on the next day.[1][2]

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Photos[edit | edit source]

When viewing photos or videos in the Photos app, the content will no longer zoom out when the UI is displayed.[3] Additionally, the layout of the upper toolbar has been adjusted and the positioning of the bottom toolbar has been shifted down slightly. These changes make the app more reminiscent of its iOS 17 counterpart.

Apple Intelligence[edit | edit source]

  • The code to this build contains a list of "authorized devices", which is likely used to prevent Apple Intelligence features from being enabled on unsupported devices.
  • The Writing Tools option in the text editing menu (cut, copy, paste, etc.) is more prominently displayed.
  • Slight UI changes have been made to the Writing Tools menu.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

  • On the iPhone 16 series, a new option has been added which allows users to launch the Camera app from Camera Control even if the display is turned off.
  • In the Mail app, a new notice has been added which informs the user that notification badges will only be displayed for primary emails.
  • A new splash screen has been added to the Voice Memos app, which informs the user about track layering in recordings.
  • Six new wallpapers are now available in Safari for iPadOS.[4] They would be added to iOS in a future build.
  • On iPadOS, the navigation bar in the TV app can now be customized.
  • A dark mode variant of the AirDrop icon has been added.
  • Media and Climate app icons for next-generation CarPlay have been updated.
  • Fixed an issue with the Precision Finding and "Play Sound" features of AirTags, AirPods, and third-party Find My accessories.
