iOS 18.2 build 22C5109p is the official Beta 1 release of iOS 18.2, which was released to Apple developers on 23 October 2024.[1] It is only available for the iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 Pro models, and iPads with an M series chip.

Apple Intelligence[edit | edit source]

Image Playground and Genmoji[edit | edit source]

This build introduces the Image Playground app, which can be used to generate stylized images based on prompts and images of people.[2] It is available as a standalone app, but can also be accessed in Messages and Freeform. Additionally, users can now create custom emoji with the new Genmoji feature.

Image Wand[edit | edit source]

The Image Wand feature has been added to the Notes app, which can be used to add images to written notes. Additionally, it can clean up rough sketches made using the Apple Pencil on iPadOS.

Visual Intelligence[edit | edit source]

The Visual Intelligence feature has been added, which is only available for the iPhone 16 series. By holding down the Camera Control, users can identify objects and places through the iPhone's camera.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

  • ChatGPT integration with Siri has been added.
  • Users can now provide a specific style for Rewrite in Writing Tools. It was previously limited to only 3 built-in styles.
  • Support has been expanded to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK.
  • A Control Center toggle for Type to Siri has been added.

Mail[edit | edit source]

The Mail app received a major update, featuring built-in categories and contact photos. Categories include Primary, Transactions, Updates, and Promotions.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

  • Users can now import and export browser data from Safari.
  • A dedicated page for managing default apps has been added to the Settings app.
  • The ability to set the maximum volume limit has been added to the "Sound and Haptics" section of the Settings app. This does not impact phone calls, FaceTime calls, and alarms.
  • EU users can now delete the ‌App Store‌, Safari, Messages, Camera, and Photos apps. The apps can be reinstalled from a new "App Installation" section in Settings.
  • In Australia, children now have the option to report messages sent through iMessage.
  • In the Voice Memos app, two tracks can now be layered on top of one another.
  • Users can now favorite categories in the Podcasts app.
  • Sleep Apnea notifications are now available in Canada.
