New features and changes[edit | edit source]

TV[edit | edit source]

This build introduces the TV app, which was previously announced at Apple's Special Event Keynote on 27 October 2016.[3] It replaces the Videos app and is designed to help users discover content from their streaming services, in addition to their purchases from the iTunes store.

Music[edit | edit source]

  • Shuffle and repeat buttons on the Now Playing screen have been updated to be more prominent.
  • A new pop-up has been added which informs the user that they can access shuffle, repeat, and the up next list by swiping up on the Now Playing screen.
  • Users now have the option to download entire genres of music from their library.

Messages[edit | edit source]

  • If contact photos are disabled, they will no longer be displayed in conversations.
  • Contact names are now displayed when quick replying to a message.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

  • Live Photos are now captured at a much higher frame rate.
  • Emergency SOS can now be activated if the user rapidly clicks the sleep/wake button five times. This option can be disabled in a newly added page in the Settings app.
  • The Siri UI will be displayed if the feature is disabled, prompting the user if they want to enable it.
  • Notification Center will now remember which page the user was previously on.
  • Bright wallpapers set by the user are no longer darkened.
