HarmonyOS NEXT is a unified close-sourced OS distro of OpenHarmony, announced at HDC 2023 on 4 August 2023, which use the HongMeng Microkernel[1] and no longer support for Android Apps. On March 20, 2025, Richard Yu, Chairman of Huawei's Consumer Business Group, confirmed that HarmonyOS NEXT-preinstalled PCs would be released in May 2025.

  • First release of HarmonyOS NEXT.
  • Preinstalled in select SKUs of Mate 70 Series (Celestial Pillar) and Mate X6 (Iceland) (known as the HarmonyOS NEXT Pioneer Edition).
  • Pura X (Verde) was the first smartphone model to exclusively support HarmonyOS 5, with no downgrade option to HarmonyOS 4.x.
