HarmonyOS NEXT is a unified close-sourced OS distro of OpenHarmony, announced at HDC 2023 on 4 August 2023, which is the first version of HarmonyOS to use the HongMeng Microkernel[1] and first version to remove support for Android Apps. HarmonyOS NEXT was released to public beta testers on 8 October 2024 for Mate 60 (Barry) and Mate 60 Pro series (Allen), Mate X5 (Alta) and MatePad Pro 13.2 (Poincare).
