Windows Server build 17074 is the fifth Insider Preview build of Windows Server, version 1803. It was released on 16 January 2018.
- Various improvements to Storage Spaces Direct. SCSI Enclosure Services is not longer required for Storage Spaces Direct to be compatible.
- Storage Spaces Direct now supports Persistent Memory, as well as the ability to Direct-connect SATA drives to the AHCI controller.
- Enabled the Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV) cache by default. This feature uses an in-memory write-through cache to speed up virtual machine performance.
- Included enchancements to Azure enlightened Failover Clusters.
- Added deduplication support for ReFS and Storage Spaces Direct.
- If you test the Windows core, it may fail because of a timeout while attempting to load the test libraries.
- Running Insider versions of Nano Server containers on a host that uses Windows Server Core will fail and could crash the host. A workaround is to add "
—isolation=hyperv
" when running or building the containers such as the syntax "docker run –isolation=hyperv microsoft/nanoserver-insider"
.
