Windows Server 2019 build 17639 is the second Insider Preview build of Windows Server 2019. It was released on 10 April 2018.
New features and changes[edit | edit source]
- Introduced the Storage Migration Service (SMS), which is included in both the Standard and Datacenter Server SKUs. This feature allows sysadmins to inventory existing servers for their data, security and network settings, and then migrates the selected data, security and network settings to a newer target by using the SMB protocol, and then after that, it takes over the identity of the older server completely, decommissioning the original source in a way that users and apps are unaffected and the users are unaware that a server migration has taken place.
Bugs[edit | edit source]
- Active Directory domain controllers may not upgrade correctly during an in-place OS upgrade.
- If you create or edit a policy for AppLocker, the associated MMC snap-in can crash when generated rules for a packaged app.
- After an upgrade, the AppX database may have corrupted entries, which can cause problems for components that use said entries.
