|Build of Windows NT 3.1|
Windows NT 3.1 build 511 is the original RTM build of Windows NT 3.1, which was released on 27 July 1993.
Changes from build 475[edit | edit source]
- During the file copy stage in GUI Setup, the dialog with the progress bar has been moved to the lower-right corner. In the upper-left corner, there are now billboards showing the features and advantages of Windows NT as well as a reminder to register at Microsoft.
OS Loader[edit | edit source]
- The message during boot to press the Spacebar to initialize the Last Known Good Configuration/Hardware Profile menu has been altered.
- The menu entry to load a previous installed system from the C drive has been removed, letting Windows NT directly boot.
Bugs[edit | edit source]
Processor check[edit | edit source]
Setup doesn't detect processors newer than the original Pentium, as well as some models of 386, 486, and Pentium processors. To bypass this, two INF files must be edited after the first stage (in text mode) of setup is done. Change the line
STF_PROCESSOR = "" ? $(!LIBHANDLE) GetProcessor to
STF_PROCESSOR = $(ProcessorID_I586) in
SETUP.INF files in the
SYSTEM32 subdirectory of the target installation directory. If you're doing this on a 386 processor use I386, and for 486 processor use I486 instead of I586.
