Windows Media Player 10 build 3409 is a build of Windows Media Player 10. This build's installer is included in the installation CD in the OEM directory in some of the beta builds of Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. Due to its earliness, it still uses 9.0 version, and the resource DLL, wmploc.dll, still includes Windows Media Player 9 Series's main skin/user interface.

Player 10 is going to be, it seems to be quite a stable build,

New features and changes[edit | edit source]
- A new user interface layout and texture has been introduced. This new main skin is stored separately from Windows Media Player 9 Series's skin in
wmploc.dllnamedMAINAPPSKIN2.WSZwhile the aforementioned version's skin remainsMAINAPPSKIN.WSZ. - Library's toolbar has been modified
- Library will now load properly even when run on Windows 7 or later Windows versions even when not run as administrator, unlike Windows Media Player 9.
- A popup will show when connecting an MTP device to your computer.
- The visualization indicator bar and full screen button has been moved to the top.
- The playlist is now also displayed in the library tab.
- When viewing a video in full screen mode, it no longer resizes the video if the controls are visible and the video's top and bottom will be cut off by default.
Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]
- The playlist has a padding at the top and the total duration is not displayed at the bottom. It can be temporarily fixed by resizing the playlist, but it the bug will occur again when going to other tabs and returning back to Now Playing or restarting the application.
- Due to its earliness, this build is not yet compatible with Media Center 2005 and video playback will fail in the aforementioned application if forcibly downgraded to this version from the RTM version of Windows Media Player 10, even if Direct3D supported graphics driver is installed.
- Some of the buttons in the library tab are placeholders and non-functional.
- The pause button uses Windows Media Player 9's texture.
- This build doesn't run on Windows 7 unlike the RTM build or Windows Media Player 9 in its vanilla state, and requires setting compatibility mode to Windows XP or Windows Server 2003, otherwise it will throw an error that Windows Media Player is not properly installed.
- The Sync tab is non-functional at all.
