- Microsoft NetMeeting was updated to version 3.0 Beta 2 (4.4.3214).
- Internet Explorer 5 (5.00.2014.0207).
- Outlook Express 5 (5.00.2014.207).
- Windows Media Player 6.1 (6.01.05.0130).
- Microsoft FrontPage Express (2.0.2.1131).
- The Time and Time Zone tabs are merged, and the map is removed.
- The Internet Connection Wizard appears in the second stage.
- The desktop shortcut to "The Microsoft Network" has been renamed once again, this time to "Setup MSN".
- "Welcome to Windows 98" (
WELCOME.EXE) has been updated to show aClosebutton instead of aBeginbutton. Clicking on it closes the app instead of launching the Registration wizard. - The copyright date of
