Windows 2000 build 2072 is the official Release Candidate 1 build of Windows 2000, released on 2 July 1999.

Changes

• Removed the "Pre-release" tag from the desktop watermark.
• This is the first build to launch the "Network Identification Wizard" when logging on for the first time after a clean install.

Installation

ACPI

On some computers and virtualizers, ACPI must be turned off or setup might crash while loading.

VirtualBox

When upgrading from build 2031 or build 2068 on some machines, after the "Installing devices" section of the setup, the screen will turn black and will not come back. The only workaround is to boot to the CD, repair the install, and proceed with the installation as usual. This server SKU-specific bug persists until build 2190.
