Changes[edit | edit source]

  • The copyright date in the Command Prompt has been updated from 1985–1998 to 1985–1999.
  • Dr. Watson for Windows NT (drwtsn32.exe) has been renamed to "Dr. Watson for Windows 2000". Also, its description has been changed from "Windows NT Application Error Debugger" to "Windows 2000 Application Error Debugger".
  • Quick View (quikview.exe) has been removed.
  • The NT 5.0 branding in the Logon screensaver has been replaced by Windows 2000.
  • The "Starting Windows NT" text appearing right before the boot screen launches has been removed
  • New bugcheck codes have been added:[2]
    • The processor's IRQL is not valid for the currently executing context. This is a software error condition and is usually caused by a device driver changing IRQL and not restoring it to its previous value when it has finished its task. (0xC8, later renamed IRQL_UNEXPECTED_VALUE)
    • The IO manager has detected a violation by a driver that is being verified. The faulty driver that is being verified must be debugged and replaced with a working version. (0xC9, later renamed DRIVER_VERIFIER_IOMANAGER_VIOLATION)
