Windows 11 build 25951.1000 is a build of Windows 11 2024 Update. It was released to Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel on 13 September 2023, along with its server counterpart.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Shell[edit | edit source]

The network flyout on the lock screen has been redesigned with Mica.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

  • Support for blocking NTLM for remote outbound connections has been implemented into the SMB client. This changes legacy behavior, where Windows Simple and Protected GSS-API Negotiation Mechanism (SPNEGO) would negotiate Kerberos, NTLM, and other mechanisms with the destination server to decide on a supported security package.[1]
  • Support for controlling the negotiate behavior for SMB 2 and 3 dialects has been implemented into the SMB server. This changes legacy behavior, where Windows SMB always negotiated the highest matched server dialect from SMB 2.0.2 to 3.1.1 clients.[2]

Bugs and quirks[edit | edit source]

  • Adjusting screen brightness may not work on some laptops.
  • The print queue may not be accessible.
  • The icons on the desktop may appear blank in certain cases. Refreshing the desktop would resolve this issue.
  • Certain popular games may not work correctly.
  • Text on highlighted items in Microsoft Management Console and some of its snap-ins may have a yellow color.

Updates[edit | edit source]

  • 25951.1010.rs_prerelease_flt.230908-1553 (KB5031089)
    • Released to the Canary Channel on 15 September 2023 (AMD64 and ARM64)
