Windows 10 build 18894 is the eleventh Insider Preview build of Windows 10 May 2020 Update. This build was released to Windows Insiders in the Fast Ring on 8 May 2019.

New features[edit | edit source]

  • Introduced a redesigned search interface in File Explorer. It can be enabled by downloading mach2, then typing in mach2 enable 18755234 -v 1 from an administrative Command Prompt, and then restart the machine or VM. This search interface includes OneDrive search results along with locally stored files. It also includes a drop-down list of suggested files that can be selected as the search query is being typed. You can also see your search history by either clicking on it or by pressing Ctrl+E to set focus to it. It was enabled by default starting with build 18956.
  • When reading tables, Narrator won't repeat header information when navigating within the same row or column. Entering and exiting tables is also less verbose.
  • You can press the Narrator key + S to make it read a summary of a webpage. In this build, it reads information about hyperlinks, landmarks and headings.
  • Magnifier now keeps the text cursor on the center of the screen, making it easier and smoother for a user to type.
  • General changes, improvements, and bug fixes listed in the official release announcement.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

  • The Your Phone app does not function on this build due to an OS bug. It would be later fixed in the next build.
  • Older versions of anti-cheat software for games can cause the PC to crash with a green screen of death.
  • Some Realtek SD card readers do not function correctly with this build.
  • If you use Remote Desktop to connect to an enhanced session VM, the taskbar search results will not be visible and thus display a blank area instead until you restart searchui.exe.
  • On some devices, if fast startup is enabled, the night light feature won't turn on unless the device is rebooted.
  • There is a noticeable lag when you drag the emoji and dictation panels.
  • Tamper Protection may be turned off in Windows Security after updating to this build. It can be turned back on after the update is complete.
  • Some features on the Start menu and the all apps section aren't fully localized in some languages such as French, Simplified Chinese, and Russian.
  • When you select a color filter in the Ease of Access settings in the Settings app, it does not apply right away. To workaround this bug, turn the color filters option off and then back on.
  • The IME window for East Asian IMEs (Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and the Japanese IMEs) sometimes may not open. To workaround this issue, open Task Manager and then end the WindowsInternal.ComposableShell.Experiences.TextInput.InputApp.exe process.
  • With the Bopomofo IME, the character width may suddenly change from Half width to Full width.
