Windows 10 build 17655 is the ninth Insider Preview build of Windows 10 October 2018 Update. This build was released to Windows Insiders that were opted into Skip Ahead on 25 April 2018.

Changes[edit | edit source]

  • Introduced a new mobile broadband driver based on the Net Adapter framework, which was first introduced as a preview version in Windows 10 Creators Update. If the PC supports cellular connectivity, you can switch to this driver by following these steps down below.
1. Make sure the PC can support ways of connecting to the cellular network, such as SIM cards and USB modems (either over the internal USB bus or by using a USB dongle)
2. Setup cellular connectivity.
3. Choose the new Net Adapter MBB USB class driver as the default driver. This can be done by opening Device Manager (easiest way to access it is by right-clicking on the Start button). After opening Device Manager, go to the Network adapters section and then choose Generic Mobile Broadband Adapter or xxxxx (xxxxx being whatever the device is branded as) Mobile Broadband Adapter.
4. Right-click the selected driver and then select "Update driver", on the box that comes up, click on "Browse my computer for driver software", then click on "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer", then choose 'Generic Mobile Broadband Cx Net Adapter'. After selecting that driver, click on Next to install the driver, and then reboot to make the new driver take effect.

Lean SKU[edit | edit source]

This build is the only known build to have the Lean SKU, which is an early iteration of S Mode. The SKU was intended for devices with 16GB storage space, and unlike S Mode, it has the ability to run Win32 apps.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

  • Sometimes the mouse cursor can randomly disappear when you hover over certain UI elements and text fields.
  • You may get to see the desktop before you get to the lock screen upon resuming from stand-by.
  • The Movies & TV app can crash if the user denies access to their video library and then navigates to the Personal tab.
  • Narrator can read extra text when Alt+Tab ↹ is invoked.
  • Using the arrow keys and the PgUp ↑/PgDn ↓ keys does not work to scroll pages in Microsoft Edge.
  • If you finish the setup for a Windows Mixed Reality headset on this build, the headset will remain black until you unplug and reconnect it to the PC.
