Windows 10 build 17650 is the eighth Insider Preview build of Windows 10 October 2018 Update. This build was released to Windows Insiders that were opted into Skip Ahead on 19 April 2018.

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Windows Defender Security Center was updated to use Fluent Design, and various visual improvements were made to the app. The title bar of said app was updated to now use the selected accent color if that option is enabled in Settings, if Sets is enabled, the custom accent color can be seen in the Windows Defender Security Center tab.
Windows Defender Firewall now supports Windows Subsystem for Linux processes. You can add specific rules for WSL processes. Notifications are now supported for WSL processes.

Hidden features[edit | edit source]

Sets[edit | edit source]

Sets is included in this build. To get it, you must download mach2. After downloading, run it and then type in the commands mach2 enable 13849566 -v 1 and

mach2 enable 10727725 -v 1. After this is done, reboot the VM or machine.

Screenclips[edit | edit source]

A new screenshot tool is included in this build. To activate it, type in mach2 enable 15333818 -v 1 and reboot. To use it, press ⊞ Win+⇧ Shift+S. Snips from this tool can then be copied to any image editing tool, such as Paint and Paint 3D.

File Explorer dark theme[edit | edit source]

This build includes a very incomplete dark theme for File Explorer. To see it, type in mach2 enable 10397285 -v 1 and reboot.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

You may get to see the desktop before you get to the lock screen upon resuming from stand-by.
The Movies & TV app can crash if the user denies access to their video library and then navigates to the Personal tab.
Tiling and cascading windows do not work for inactive tabs.
Opening an Office document while the same app has an existing document open may cause an unintended switch to the last active document. It can also happen if you close a sheet in Excel while other sheets are open.
Locally stored files and cloud files that are on non-Microsoft cloud services are not automatically restored.
The top of some Win32 desktop apps may appear slightly underneath the tab bar when they're opened maximized. To fix this issue, restore and re-maximize the affected window.
Sometimes closing one tab can minimize the entire set.
Narrator can read extra text when Alt+Tab ↹ is invoked.
Using the arrow keys and the PgUp ↑/PgDn ↓ keys does not work to scroll pages in Microsoft Edge.
If you finish the setup for a Windows Mixed Reality headset on this build, the headset will remain black until you unplug and reconnect it to the PC.
