Now by blackbox testing,I can inferred CMPXCHG8B testing issues about maximum CPUID leaf may exists in windows NT build 1175<x<2091(NT4 SP6 excluded of course)...... but the vendor ID limit first appeared in what bulid remains unknown......
CMPXCHG8B detecting crash behaviour[edit | edit source]
The bug code is STOP:0X0000003E(0x00000080,0x00000000,0x00000000,0x00000000) And on build before 1835,(before triple fault),you will see the BSOD in text mode. In build 1835-2072,nothing will be shown as before switching into graphics mode to display BSOD,the system resets bacause of triple fault or simply freezing without reset......
