I saw similarities with this and the Wikipedia version of the same article. Even the sections look copy-pasted. EVTHD (talk) 15:15, 5 June 2021 (UTC)

About the development fallout of Windows Ultimate Extras...[edit source]

I read the newly-added section where Steven Sinofsky revealed that the reason as to why Windows Ultimate Extras failed was the fact that there was no dedicated development team and future product plans for it did not exist. I think the most interesting point here was the fact that the extras that were ultimately shipped were basically leftovers that were created while Windows Vista was being worked on. One of them being the poker game was intended to ship with the final release but, was made an Ultimate Extra due to its gambling themes.

It also revealed that the team tried to pitch and present various ideas for Ultimate Extras such as games and management tools and they ended up being rejected as they did not satisfly the classifications for inclusion.

This could explain the repeated delays in the delivery of the extras, the lack of transparency of extras development among other reasons. After deilvering the last few extras in 2008, the team was silently disbanded by Microsoft which explains why the feature was discontinued in Windows 7. This could explain why they changed the description of the features in Windows Vista SP1 to downplay the feature indicating that the feature was pretty much done for.

This overall was a failed attempt to persuade customers to purchase the Ultimate edition of Windows Vista. If they had a development team with the right people from the start, they would have came up with very good extras and Windows Ultimate Extras probalby would have been more sucessful and there would have been more high-quality extras than the ones that customers ended up getting.
