Red Hat Linux 9.0 (codenamed Shrike) is the last version of Red Hat Linux, released on 31 March 2003. It introduced NPTL support and shipped with Linux kernel 2.4.20, GNOME 2.2, and KDE 3.1.
It is the last version before Red Hat discontinued Red Hat Linux and split it into two RHEL-based distributions: Red Hat Enterprise Linux for commercial enterprises, and Fedora for home users as a free distribution and community project.
