DEC OSF/1 is an operating system built on the Mach kernel by Digital Equipment Corporation during the 1980s through the early 1990s. Versions 1 and 2 were intended for MIPS and DEC Alpha AXP architectures. It was renamed to Digital UNIX in 1995, as well as dropping support for the MIPS architecture. In 1998, Compaq and Hewlett-Packard bought out DEC, therefore once again, renaming the OS to Tru64 UNIX.
Support for the Tru64 UNIX operating system continued until 31 December 2012, with its last version being Tru64 UNIX 5.1B-6.
