New features and changes[edit | edit source]

Communications[edit | edit source]

Address Book[edit | edit source]

The Address Book application can now import more than one email address per contact from an LDIF export file. SMS messages longer than 68 characters can now be sent in Swedish-localized releases of Mac OS X.

Mail[edit | edit source]

E-mail messages now retain their statuses when pasted inside of the Mail application. Attached ZIP archives in messages can now be saved without requiring decompression. The Safari web browser is now able to download e-mail attachments sent from Hotmail accounts, and compatibility with large PDF files attached as part of messages sent from Microsoft Entourage has been improved.

Device support[edit | edit source]

iTunes and iSync now recognize iPods connected over USB 2.0. Compatibility with mass storage devices such as SCSI and RAID PCI cards along with USB and FireWire devices have been improved. Incoming phone calls and SMS messages from a paired phone now appear in the foreground.

Printing shadowed text without outlines on an HP DeskJet 970/990 printer is now possible, and PostScript printers can now properly print shadowed graphics.

Finder[edit | edit source]

Additional disk image volume types can now be used with the Devanagari, Gujarati and Gurmukhi scripts.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]

This release includes recent security updates of the time, but lacks the 2005-05-24 security update.

Preview also no longer asks for a password when opening a PDF file that is not password-protected, and Stickies no longer automatically write to the hard drive even when the computer is idle. Support for vertex buffer objects and replaceable entry points have been added to the existing OpenGL implementation, and users with network home directories can now add fonts to a Font Book collection.

Updates can now be installed even if an application's property lists are damaged.
