Mac OS X Panther build 7D24 is the 10.3.2 update of Mac OS X Panther, which was released on 17 December 2003.
Enhancements[edit | edit source]
Address Book and Mail[edit | edit source]
- Mail now moves messages marked as junk to the Junk mailbox more reliably.
- In Address Book, the user can now configure Exchange synchronization with either a hostname or full server URL, including a (https://) URL to automatically use SSL.
- Syncing between Address Book and Microsoft Exchange was improved.
- The user can now move an email to a different mailbox if the user used an email server that previously didn't allow this.
- Results when using Mail with a .Mac or IMAP account and an SSL connection were improved.
- Text sizing was improved when printing from Mail.
Networking[edit | edit source]
- Results when looking for SMB-based servers was improved when in Network view.
- An issue was resolved in which the Mac OS X firewall could no longer be available if an upgrade installation of Mac OS X Panther was performed.
- Automatic configuration of proxy servers using Proxy Auto Configuration (.pac) files has been allowed.
- An issue was resolved that could prevent the computer from getting a DHCP lease after certain kernel extensions were unloaded and reloaded.
- DNS was improved for Mac OS X 10.2 clients that use a shared Internet connection from a Mac OS X Panther computer.
- An issue was resolved that could prevent the user from getting or maintaining an IP address via DHCP under certain conditions.
- An issue was addressed in which the L2TP VPN could not connect with leftover racoon.pid.
Print and fax[edit | edit source]
- The size of printouts from certain applications, including Safari, has been fixed.
- An issue was addressed in which a "No pages were selected to be printed in this document" alert appears when printing from Mail, Safari, iPhoto, or Preview, which soon after, the application would unexpectedly quit.
- Compatibility was improved for Microsoft Virtual PC 6.1's emulated printing features.
- Faxes can now be saved in a folder whose name includes 2-byte characters.
- An issue was addressed with some USB PostScript printers, including the HP LaserJet 2300, Lexmark E310 and GCC Elite 21, in which a "Printer not responding" message appears when trying to add the printer in Printer Setup Utility, or when trying to print.
- Compatibility was improved for Brother HL 1240 printers when used on an AirPort network with Rendezvous, previously, an alert message with "-9672" could appear when adding the printer.
- An issue was addressed in which an application could unexpectedly quit when sending a fax to several recipients.
- Compatibility was improved for some Lexmark printers when they print an A4-sized page.
- Reliability of the Mac OS X Panther's fax email delivery feature was improved.
Finder and other[edit | edit source]
- Issues were addressed that could keep a disk image from appearing in the Finder when opening its file.
- A FireWire-based volume can now be ejected from the Finder without entering an administrator password.
- The security of background applications when Screen Saver is on and when entering a Screen Saver password was improved.
- The Repair Premissions utility no longer reports a permissions issue with the printer.conf file.
- Character Palette no longer appears when you log in or after the computer wakes from sleep.
- iTunes will now keep importing songs from an audio CD if you switch to another account.
- FileVault no longer prompts to recover unused disk space each time the user logs out. It will now only ask when needed.
- A Font Book collection's name, if it includes a slash, could cause issues. Because of this, the slash can no longer be used in a Font Book collection's name.
- An issue was addressed in which a PowerBook G4 computer may stop responding when a Classic application's window is moved.
- The consonant of the first character for certain words entered using the Simplified Chinese ABC input method is no longer ignored.
- Compatibility was improved for CH Products' joysticks and flight yokes.
- Compatibility was improved for MagTek credit card readers.
- Reliability was improved for third-party FireWire audio hardware devices.
- The OS now more reliably recognizes some FireWire devices, including the iSight camera.
- An issue with iChat AV (Italian) was addressed in which the user couldn't join a chat room that they weren't invited to.
