macOS Sierra build 16B3279f is an internal build of macOS Sierra, which is used to run Apple's internal PhoenixCE testing tool. It was originally discovered after Sean Heber (@BigZaphod on X/Twitter), developer of the Twitterrific Twitter client sent his wife's laptop in for repair, with it coming back with this build. Images of the build were posted on what was then called Twitter (now X) on Jan 6, 2018. After posting these images, Apple tracked Sean down, called him, and requests to bring back the MacBook for investigation. "And no, I’m not going to copy the secret internal Apple software and share it with the internet.", he said in a reply.[1]
