macOS Monterey build 21E5196i is the official Beta 1 release of macOS Monterey 12.3, which was released to Apple developers on 27 January 2022,[1] then to public beta testers the next day.[2]
New features and changes[3][edit | edit source]
- Universal Control is now enabled after being delayed multiple times since being showcased during the WWDC event in June 2021. It allows users to control their Macs and iPads using the same peripheals.
- Support is added for the adaptive trigger firmware features of the Sony PlayStation 5's DualSense controllers.
- A new ScreenCaptureKit framework is added. It adds high-performance screen recording support for Mac apps.
- The kernel that is used by Dropbox and Microsoft OneDrive is now deprecated.
- AirPods firmware can now be updated from a Mac.[4]
- Support for Python 2.7 was removed.
