macOS Monterey build 21A5506j is the official Beta 6 and Public Beta 5 release of macOS Monterey, which was released to Apple developers on 30 August 2021,[1] then to public beta testers the next day.[2]

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

System Preferences[edit | edit source]

  • Now universal control will finally show up when searching in System Preferences.
  • Now when your not connected to a second monitor, a laptop pixeled wallpaper will show up instead in the Display Preferences. Though it uses the wallpaper seen in Big Sur which many people said that it was unfortunate to keep it like that.

  • A new splash screen has been implemented when you open the app.

Fixes[edit | edit source]

Control Center[edit | edit source]
  • Fixed the issue were Siri will not open when focus mode is on.
  • Now animations for the notifications are now smoother.

  • Fixed the issue were the bay bridge will be cropped incorrectly when zooming in.
Safari[edit | edit source]
  • Fixed the issue were the seperated tab button will have a non-aligned wallpaper or the wallpaper is blank unlike the compact button.
  • Showing the tab colors will make them show up correctly, compared from beta 5.

Known issues[edit | edit source]

  • When in full screen, movies or TV shows will not play and also the ability to escape will be not possible. (Apple TV)
  • When your in Reminders, the splash screen will pop up first and then the page, with the splash screen being popped up several more times.
  • Legacy contacts will be sometimes absent in System Preferences.
  • Some toolbar buttons in Language & Regions will be misaligned in System Preferences.
