iOS 17.2 build 21C5029g is the official Beta 1 release of iOS 17.2, which was released to Apple developers on 26 October 2023, then to public beta testers on the next day.[1][2]

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

  • The Journal app, initially announced at WWDC, has been added.[3] It allows users to record their daily activities and thoughts using on-device suggestions.
  • Songs that are favorited in Apple Music are now automatically placed into a dedicated "Favorite Songs" playlists.
  • The Collaborative Playlists feature is now available in Apple Music.
  • In the Messages app, Stickers can now be directly added to chat bubbles from the tapback menu.
  • The catch-up arrow has been added to the Messages app, which can be used to quickly jump the first unread message in a group conversation.
  • The Contact Key Verification feature for iMessage has been added. It is designed for users who may face "extraordinary digital threats", allowing them to further verify that they are messaging with the people they intend.
  • New Memoji customization options have been added for adjusting waist, bust, shoulders, and arms.
  • In the Apple TV app, Movies and TV shows are no longer in separate sections of the store.
  • The News app now supports Live Activities for following certain news-related events.
  • The "Fast Fade" page turning animation has been added to the Books app.
  • New Weather and Clock app widgets for the Home Screen have been added.
  • Rainbow-colored text can now be used for Contact Posters.
  • On iPhone 15 Pro models, the Action Button has a new “Translate” option for voice-to-text translation between two different languages.
  • The AirPlay Receiver option has been added to the Settings app, which allows Apple Vision Pro media to be streamed to an iPhone or iPad.
  • A new Focus Filter for disabling the listening history in Apple Music has been added.
