iOS 16.4 build 20E5212f is the official Beta 1 release of iOS 16.4, which was released to Apple developers on 16 February 2023, then to public beta testers on the next day.[1][2]

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

  • Safari now supports web push notifications.[3] As apart of this change, web apps added to the ‌Home Screen‌ can now display notification badges.
  • Third-party web browsers are now able to add websites and web apps to the ‌Home Screen‌.
  • Several new Emojis have been added, which are apart of the Emoji 15 update.[4]
  • The Podcasts app now includes the "Channels" page, which will display the user's followed channels. Improvements were also made to CarPlay and the "Up Next" queue.
  • The profile button in the Music app is now more prominent.
  • Device user guides for Apple Watch, AirPods, and HomePod models can now be viewed directly from the Tips app.
  • Enrolled users can now turn on Apple developer betas or public betas directly from the Software Update section in the Settings app.
  • The AppleCare Coverage page in the Settings app has been updated to display the warranty information for all connected devices (such as Apple Watches and AirPods).
  • Focus modes can now be configured to disable the always-on display on iPhone 14 Pro models.
  • Several new options for Shortcut workflows have been added.
  • 5G networking is now supported in Turkey.
  • Support for 5G Standalone has been added for T-Mobile customers.
  • On the iPhone 14 series, Emergency SOS via Satellite will now provide more information of when the next satellite will be passing by.

References to the high-yield savings account for Apple Card have been found in the code, suggesting its launch for the near future. It mentions routing and account numbers, current balance, interest earned, data management, and funds available for withdrawal.
