iOS 16.0 build 20A5303i is the official Beta 2 release of iOS 16, which was released to Apple developers on 22 June 2022.[1]
New features and changes[edit | edit source]
- Added support for backing up devices over LTE and 5G connections.
- Expanded on the Report Junk feature in the Messages app to cover SMS/MMS messages. It currently only functions if the user lives in the United States or Japan and only on certain carriers.
- iPad devices are no longer supported as a Home Hub.
- Added two new DuoTone and Color Wash options on the Lock Screen customization settings.
- Added notifications to let users know they can pinch in and out to change the crop of the wallpaper being set.
- The Astronomy dynamic wallpaper now shows a green dot to indicate the user's location.
- The Earth dynamic wallpaper is now available on older devices including the iPhone XS and iPhone XR.
- New Customize options were added to the Wallpapers section underneath the Lock Screen and Home Screen to make it clear they can be adjusted. A new "Set as Wallpaper Pair" option was also added.
- Layout changes in Apple Cash's Send or Request interface, it is now a single button instead of two seperate buttons.
- In Apple Card, the Weekly Activity section now lets users know Apple Cash they've earned for the week.
- A new Save to Quick Note option was added on the menu seen while taking a screenshot.
- Lock Screen layouts can now be deleted by swiping upwards.
- Event extraction from SMS was added for Indian users. They are shown as Siri suggestions and are also presented to users in the Messages thread and in the Calendar inbox.
- A new Stage Manager option was added for compatible iPads. It displays options for hiding recent apps and hiding the dock while using Stage Manager.
- The Translate app now supports five new languages, being Turkish, Thai, Polish, Indonesian and Dutch.
