IBM OS/2 1.0 revision 7.68 is an early build of OS/2 1.0 and is currently the earliest available build of OS/2. It is available as a boot disk. The operating system for this build is branded as "CP/DOS" and "ADOS 5.00".

Changes from Multitasking MS-DOS 4[edit | edit source]

  • System calls were optimised to use Intel 80186 ENTER/EXIT instructions.
  • The system has been ported to use the protected mode of the Intel 80286 processor.

Bugs[edit | edit source]

This build requires an EGA or lower display adapter, otherwise the screen will blank after boot.

Slack space[edit | edit source]

While not very much remains, the slack space on this disk has references to an unknown version of Windows (with the directory entry strangely indicating a cluster number corresponding to a position on the disk far past the size of the disk image) installed on 30 October 1986 as well as several older versions of the linker.
