Fedora 41

Fedora 41 is a version of Fedora, which was released to the public on 29 October 2024.[1]

New features and changes[edit | edit source]

  • Introduced DNF 5, which includes incremental bugfixes and makes it available to use between containers and memory-constraint systems, consequently dropping need for using specialized microdnf version.
  • Default terminal application for GNOME-based versions changed to Ptyxis[2], which matches with overall GNOME aesthetics and faster than previous Terminal application.
  • Introduced bootc as a replacement for rpm-ostree for deploying Fedora's spins and variants for specific purposes (e.g. IoT services or embedded environments.
  • Secure Boot full support have been returned.
  • Introduced new "Miracle" spin, which replaces desktop environment with Miracle Window Manager.
  • Desktop environments for main release and spins have been updated to latest versions at the moment of release.
